Genuine Cheer
Still sick but on the mend. Here's a sample of classic Christmas card art by Ralph Hulett, published by his son Steve over at THE ANIMATION GUILD BLOG. There's a whole passel of them there, along with the latest union dish.
I just love Ralph Hulett's art - so simple yet elegant. His work is an example of why I far prefer real gouache paintings over today's digital stuff. Just look at his handling of that tree, with the light wash and heavier drybrush on top for the foliage, and the limbs probably painted with single strokes of the brush with varying pressure to determine their thickness. Just gorgeous little paintings - I've been enjoying seeing these since his Steve has been generously posting them over the last couple of Christmas seasons.
