thanks Amir and Charles; in my humble opinion Fields did not make too many really great movies, but when he was good he was the greatest. IT'S A GIFT (something of a depression era FAWLTY TOWERS) is probably his best. I also like THE OLD FASHIONED WAY and MIN & BILL. His stuff for Universal leaves me pretty cold most. I'm in the minority for not liking THE BANK DICK, but then i also rank NIGHT AT THE OPERA among the lesser Marx Bros. movies.
Back to Fields:MILLION DOLLAR LEGS, THE MAN ON THE FLYING TRAPEZE and YOU'RE TELLING ME are middlingly enjoyable.
